Hi all:
My wife and I are going to travel the
Darling River in June, and are planning to end up in
Adelaide. From there we are going to fly to
Perth to visit a friend who is doing it tough. We expect to be in
Perth for a week before returning to
Adelaide to start the homeward trek to NSW.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on where might be the best place to store the car in
Adelaide while we are in
Perth. The car (80 series Landcruiser) will be loaded with our
camping gear, including the Oztent on the roof, so it should make a nice target in a less than secure environment.
Thanks in advance.
Jack

There is a secure car
park at
Richmond, near the airport called airport
parking. There are a couple of motels nearby that will store your car cheaper than the car
park if you have stayed a night before or after your flight. They are the Airport Motel and the Aviators Lodge, both are nearby, and all 3 will take you to and pick you up from the airport, included in your car
park fee. We have used them and no troubles.

Try one of the self storage
places. I don't know how much they cost. Our car is being stored in one in
Broome for a pittance with respect to how much it would cost to replace things. Then again all our kit is inside the car.
Google "self storage Adelaide".
I do know
Adelaide so I couldn't recommend an area. My son lives in the hills and his concern was that it may not be covered under his property insurance. Even then anyone could walk into his driveway while he was at work etc etc.

Thanks Phil. We are just deciding the best approach here, as the boss thinks it might be better to break the trip into two separate ones. See how I go.

Hi Jack
(Could have some fun with that)
We live in the
Adelaide Hills (approx 30 km from the GPO) and you are most welcome to
park your car at our place whilst in
Perth. If you would like to phone us please do so on 08 83912169.

Thank you, Allan. "The boss" is working on an itinerary, but wants to break the trips into two separate ones. I will contact you again if I win the argument.
Many thanks for your kind offer.
Cheers

"Hi Jack" ... not something you want to sing out at an airport, is it?

We also live in
Adelaide, about 14 km from GPO. Plenty of space in our drive for another vehicle for a week.
Well away from the road, but not under cover.
