My sister lives in
Murrayville N/W Vic, Mallee country. Her husband is due for long service leave but won't take it if there is noone to cover his classes. She asked if I could see if there is anyone out there interested in a terms work. They live in
Murrayville about 30 kms east of
Pinnaroo (
SA border). They are on the edge of the
big desert and the murray sunset national park. It is a small country town with wonderful people. The classes are small, about 10 pupils. It is for Oct-Dec, last term.
If any teachers out there are looking for some time in this area with work, let me know. The local caravan park is next to the school or if needed help with finding accommodation may be possible. This is a wonderful country town with an amazing community feel, anyone would be made to feel extremely welcome. You pretty much drive out of town and into the
big desert, great chance to look around. Let me know if you are interested and I will pass on details.
Thanks
Josh

The person would have to ensure they had registration in Victoria. It isn't just a case of volunteering to take the position. The person would also have to have things like a National Police Security
Check and clearance. My suggestion is that if interested start finding out what has to be done to at least be in the running for the job. Also put your name and details down in Vic to say you are prepared to do relief and or contrat work there.
I know that if it were South Oz just putting feelers out wouldn't work - channels to go through. I know as I am a very newly retired principal.

The further away from Area Office, the fewer channels to go through for most things....but not for employment.
Each state Education system is so different at the moment that one really needs to register in all of them for casual work, an impossibilty due to residence requirements (in some cases). Roll on a National Education system.
The best advice is to plan
well ahead, whether it be for providing a casual for a term's long service. or gaining casual employment in any system.

Sorry I made some assumptions. Firstly I assumed teachers would already be aware of their requirements to be a teacher. Also I didn,t exactly ask for someone to just volunteer to take the position. I asked for teachers interested in the oppotunity. Rural/remote schools often find it hard to get teachers as it is too far out of the city, particuly for a short time. Often they fill spots through other contacts/word of mouth not normal adds. I am simply asking for interested parties so I can pass on their detail's to the people involved to follow up. My brother got this job a number of years ago because a friend of his heard from another friend that a teacher was leaving, so he applied. Sometimes word of mouth can work. I'm not offering the job, just asking if any qualified teachers are interested and pass on the details.
I agree the propper channels have to be followed, I'm just asking on here as it would suit someone travelling. If interested then the appropriate steps could be taken.
