Free Satellite phone charges and some clarification.

Oops forgot to mention I am using a NexG SIM.

Those prices are for when you are on a satellite plan with a satellite number.
When I use my nextg sim the call charges are roughly double the quoted satphone call costs. Because the mobile number is "diverted" internationally I guess.
Can't help with the SMS costs as my 9500 Motorola can only receive sms.

IF you are using a Telstra sim in it the costs are roughly like this.

Ring out $3 a minute
Someone rings you
They pay the cost to ring your MOBILE number

YOU PAY FOR THE COST OF DIVERTING IT TO THE SATFONE

$3 a minute

Advantage no cost if you dont use it for extended period

Disadvantage high call cost if you use it frivously.

Sms are about 50c I think but someone will know.

All figure quoted are APPROXIMATE for those who want to jump all over me


You can get a Telstra satellite plan but may cost you $30 a month whether you make calls or not

Interesting the correct gst ex amount should be $1.8181 - wonder if Telstra are aware ? and is it binding for their current contracts ?

The last time i made a call on my sat phone with a gsm card in it was $3.85 for 1 minute. the gs card is on a $20 a month plan.

Sending an SMS from Satphone using Telstra Mobile SIM costs $1.55
