how big is the camp ground, the info i find just says it is small.
we have 6 4bs and 2 trailers on our trip. need to take into account others staying there as well.

with our 4bs will we take up all, 1/2, 1/4, of the room there?

Gday,
You would be better off camping at Jims Place and driving in to Rainbow Valley as you want.
Rainbow Valley is more of a Carpark than a camp ground.

Cheers

And that carpark can get busy at sunset when all those photographers drive in just to take photos.
It's not a big camping area.

I am currently a one man ant-bollard campaigner. You and others are welcome to join me in sending letters to all of the appropriate authorites- they don't understand their market, and bollards do not protect the environment.

I am sending my post trip feedback comments to NT parks, complimenting them on the low cost good camps sites provided, but pointing out the lack of suitability of many of these camp grounds for caravans in particular. The bollards makes many of them inaccessible for bigger rigs such as ours - being the very type of rigs the grey nomads purchase to access places such as these parks. I point out the rising numbers of people joining the caravanning/camping lifestyle. We found NT parks well maintained and much cheaper than other states. Top marks to them for that - bottom marks for the bollards.

Yep you guys get low cost camping and that is top marks. We operators get high cost, told where we can't go- anywhere you can by the way, especially in QLD but we still have the Bollards :-)

We had planned to stay on our return from Chambers Pillar, but rain prevented access. We did it as a day trip from Alice even though it meant missing the sunset. Thank goodness we didn't take the van in. We would not have been able to stay with our rig. Stuarts Well RH has a pleasant camping site (previously mentioned as Jim's Place), or Owen Springs bush camping (check out an earlier thread on this).
