Does any member have information regarding the substitution of the Hilux 2.8 L diesel with the 3.0 L Turbo model. Is the bell housing stud pattern the same etc. I have a 1993 LN111R that needs a bit more power and the new engine may suit my needs. Any ideas.

Hey Geoff

Don't know if I should thank or curse you for that link. What a wonderful read and congrats to the young fellow living his dream. Took me about FOUR hours to read the lot - well really look at the pictures. ;-)

If you're mechanically minded and into engine swap stuff I would recommend the read.

Hi Malcolm,

It's a bit like that isn't it?

Good on him I say, he cops a fair bit of stick from some of the other posters.

At least he's having a go.

I've got a lot more time for a young bloke like him than the ones that waste their lives sitting in the pub.

Drew.
If you just change the motor you will be unhappy with the gear box and diff ratios. At the moment we are in a declining economy, I was at an auction last week and hiluxes were going very cheap, You could buy a 3year old unit for less than the cost of your proposed conversion. Eric.
