TB

In Google Earth type in Eyre Creek QLD.

You can then trace the whole of Eyre Ck. As you move your pointer over it the coords appear at the bottom L of the window.

You will find Eyre Creek by finding the Georgina River - to the west of Mt Isa - trace it from there.
If looking for Eyre Creek at Birdsville you don't need a GPS - it's 38 klms west of Birdsville to Big Red, then 24 sand dunes west of Eyre Creek - all up about 52 klms from Birdsville. The floodout country west of Eyre Creek is about another 14 sand dunes or 14 kls west of that again. Still not in the Simpson Desert but getting closer.
If you read a thread from about Thursday or Friday you will note the flood detour to the north of the QAA (30 klms north) is operating and in that thread it tells you how to cross and what to look out for.

Thanks Ruth, we are planning to circle lake Eyre , via Innamincka, Lyndhurst, William Ck., Oodnadatta, Dalhousie, Birdsville then back to Sunshine Coast - how long do you think it is likely to take without wasting much time but still not in a rush, ta, dingo

2 weeks will give you plenty of time Dingo, that'll include a quick dash into the painted desert, worth it if you haven't seen it before.

Cheers

Eyre Creek was mid thigh high last wednesday so will most likely be very little below that at the moment. Easy crossing well marked. Current medium. Detour is via property internal roads plus some links. Some sections heavy bulldust.
According to modern astronomers, space is finite..a very comforting thought particularly for people who can never remember where they left things
