We travelled the CSR in the second half of August from south to north. The weather on the first half was brilliant, cold nights and cool days. No clouds or rain at all. As we neared the top end however, we were looking for every bit of shade we could find at every stop. It was almost September and I would not do a trip again that late. Our next trip up the CSR will commence no later than mid to late July.
We found the number of other travellers on the CSR dramatically reduced as we headed north - in fact we did not pass any southbound travellers after
Well 37, but there were one or two parties following us going north.
If you dont mind the heat then September is fine - at least you would be very unlucky to experience any rain at that time of the year.
