Has anyone installed a 7" portable gps screen - I'm wondering if it too much of an obstruction hanging off the windscreen or mounted on the dash. A VMS in-dash would be nice, but would be too pricey for me.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I have bought the same touch screen and have not used it in "anger" yet. I am still trying to figure out how to mount it in my Prado GXL. But I suspect it will end up similar to Craigs's set up.
I do enjoy the fact that I have a much larger screen than small GPS screen.

Craig,
How have you actually mounted it? It looks as though it sites in front of the radio head unit - is that right? If so, can you still access the head unit?

Craig,
Also, which map software is that one running on it?

Fred,
Not sure if its helpful but I have a manual Prado 2001. I've mounted a 7" and later an 8" touchscreen behind the gearstick. The 7" was a better fit. The 8" is tight and lies quite flat. What I do like about it is that it is always shaded and relatively easy to view. I can post a
pic if useful.

Hi Straydingo,
the screen is mounted on what's called a DIN wedge and allows full access to the radio controls by way of tilting foward. The m ount is available from Rapserv (not cheap, but very high quality). The VGA screen is a clone of the laptop's screen, with the laptop running behind the
seat and running OziExplorer.
Cheers.
