Hey All,

Only 6 more days till we are of to Broome, just trying to finalize the van.

I have my spare wheel mounted under my van, and I am thinking of mounting a second one, is there a specific van type or do I just get a Holden/Ford one?

Hi Shane,
Im thinking of fitting one under my van also and was thinking of using a 100 ser toyota L/C unit as they wont cost too much from a wrecker.

regards John.

John,

I guess the unit we choose would have to have to do with the length of the drop, as a Holden dealer, I can get a price on a new Commodore ute one. as my van isnt to high it should drop low enough, i can obviously check it if you want me to price one up for you.

Just food for thought........
Before you put a spare under your van first let the tyres down on one side and see just how much room there is to get any tyre mounted underneath out.
I had a Viscount years ago with the spare mounted underneath and learnt the hard way how difficult it is to get out when a flat occured on the road.
I now have my spares mounted on the rear of the van and vehicle for ease of changing and checking the pressures.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

Dodger,

Thanks thats a good idea, my problem is that because my van is a Toy hauler it has a full size rear drop down door. My other thought is getting a swing away spare wheel carrier much like they have on 4wd wagons.

Thanks for your responses.

Hi Shane ,
Thanx for the offer but I allready know I can get a wheel carrier off my mates dads L/C as he said he dont want it anymore and as for height I have a sort of off road Rapid that is high enough to fit one under, but I think putting it under for me is a good idea as I want a second spare for the van when I do the trip.

cheers
