Hey Everyone,

We are leaving on Sunday for a 2 week trip to Broome for a wedding. I have 6 Days to get there I am thinking:

Mandurah - Monkey Mia
Monkey Mia - Coral Bay
Coral Bay - Cleaverville Beach
Cleaverville Beach - Eighty Mile Beach
Eighty Mile Beach - Broome

This allows us one day to stay someone an extra night when we like the place.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to here them on where to stay or maybe a different route. We are Self Sufficiant with a generator not Solar.

We want to come home down the middle, as this will be the 3rd time we have done the coast, Any Idea's? It has been suggested Barn Hill - Newman - Que - Mandurah, and as on the way up we have 6 days to get home.

Thanks heaps

Anwhere along the coast from Coral Bay to Exmouth is lovely, so long as Yardie Creek is open. I don't think gennies are allowed in the national park camps though.

In my opinion forget Monkey Mia and use the extra time in Broome.Maybe a trip to Cape Leveque or Quondong.

I personally would not consider Monkey Mia or Coral Bay as stopovers. Monkey Mia is 360km round trip off of your route. The same for Coral Bay.
Maybe Kalbarri, Carnarvon, Cleaverville, 80 Mile and Broome?
Are you taking the Boreline Road home between Barn Hill and Newman?

Hi Shane

I have to agree with a few posts about missing Monkey Mia - it's a long way out to not see much.

Given you're on your way to Broome and don't really have a lot of time to explore, I would recommend Coral Bay. As long as it's not school holidays, Coral Bay is a beautiful place and everything is within 200m. For this reason, I would stop at Coral Bay and then continue your trip to Broome. Also you can drive towards Exmouth to take a road back to the Great Northern highway.

Just a note - the road off the the Great Northern Highway into Coral Bay is a notorious black spot for roos... BIG roos. So just slow right down after dark (I've hit a few on this stretch - going slowly too).

Enjoy your trip and Coral Bay if you go. It really is beautiful

Regards, Will

P.S. If you don't think you can drive the 1200km from Mandurah to Coral Bay in 1 day, then think about going to Kalbarri. You can turn off at Northhampton and take the coast road in, then visit the gorges on the way out. It's a nice drive
