G'day everyone, As in my previous post we intend travelling along Gary Junction Road from Alice then onto the Kidman Track, Still researching this area. Their have been some good informative post - Thankyou. I have however read some articles that were dated 2007 that state the track is totally over grown. Can anyone thats travelled this track shed some light on this please.

regards

I doubt that it would be totally overgrown; it certainly wasn't a couple of years ago. The worst area was between the knolls and Razorblade Bore. Sure it has vegetation that sometimes has to be removed (large bushes etc) but apart from duco damage it's no big deal. The rain damage on the dunes are more of a worry ...
There is usually (sparse) traffic through there. Perhaps 2 or 3 vehicles a month in the travelling season.

we did the trip last year, 4 vehicles (one with an Ultimate) and had no problems. Take your time as there are a few washouts that could easily creep up on you.

A few areas were a bit more overgrown but easy enough to navigate.

Have fun, it is a great part of the world and enjoy the contrast when you pop out at 80 Mile beach

Beemer, was there last year, ditto to Footloose & Michael's comments but will add that the only water we found was at Rasor Bore.

Thanks everyone.

Your info will certainly aleviate some of the concerns we had. We are most likely doing this section on our own so we are still in the pre planning and preparation stage.
