Hey Guys,

We have permission to travel South from Nhulubuy down to Roper Bar along the coast......
Is it a track like OTL where there are general river crossings with dirt track or is it more viscious than that.....
It looks pretty unused along there.....
Any info regarding river crossings would be appreciated..

I've been part of the way down there and it isn't a difficult track from what I saw. Gove locals quite often tow their tinnies down to Blue Mud Bay. Out of interest, how did you get permission to go through that way?

Hi Everywhereman

Haven't done the Gove to Roper track but have been from Ngukurr to Numbulwar on the coast. The track is about 150km as Ngukurr is inland and mostly good except a few areas near the coast. Just out of Numbulwar there is a section of salt swamp pans that the track goes everywhere looking for dry land. Nearly bogged there forever.

As long as you are travelling during the dry most crossing should be OK.

Some photos of the track.

G'day Everyman!

Did that road in 2002, no trouble, no fuel, no shops until Numbulwar.Great drive just watch for buffalo wallows, and the wallow makers. Road could be fun after rain but unlikely this time of year. And tell me too how you got permission!

Cheers David, Malanda
