We have a Prado with self leveling rear airbags & have towed trailers & a mid size poptop caravan without any problems. However, we have ordered a new Windsor 21'6" full van with a tare of 2 tonnes. Toyota say not to use a Haymen Reese system & that the airbag will not be a problem up to its tow rating of 2,500Kg & 250Kg ball weight. We will be getting close to those weights at times. Has anybody had experience with this setup (good or bad)

Hi
Gordon
We have a Prado Grande with air
suspension and tow a 18/6 full caravan.
We don't use any stabiliser or ride levelling systems.
Check the weight of the caravan on a weigh
bridge as my van is supposed to be 1650 kilo and 2000 k loaded put it on a weigh
bridge with some gear inside and it came out at 2200 k.
The tow ball weight was stamped at 130 k and was actually 220 on the weigh
bridge.
Best to
check the weights first as with a 21'6" the van most likely over 2500 k the limit for the Prado.
Excellent towing with the air
suspension.

Thanks Ted, I don't expect any problems, I have had 3 Prado's all trouble free but it is good to actually hear from somebody that has had experience, especially when I am constantly told I must have a Haymen Reece hitch.
