Hi there
I was thinking about getting one of these C GEAR
camping tarps which are supposed to allow sand and fluids etc to fall through without any build up.
They have been advertised as being made for the military and are supposed to be very strong and can also be used for shelter.
They cost over $200 and before shelling out that much would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has bought one.
Would be using them on
the beach to prevent sand from being dragged into the camper area.
thanks

Expensive but
well worth the extra cost IMHO.
I have 2 one used along the side of the Tvan on the ground and the other one we use for a shelter.
Cheers
Mike

Used the smaller one under our Elite camper for 2 months travelling the block. Excellent product, lived up to all it's claims.

well.

"supposed to allow sand and fluids etc to fall through without any build up"
Does this mean it's no good for sheltering from the rain (ie. only good as shade from the sun)?

yeah, I can't see how it would help in rain.... maybe slow it down so it drips on you instead!

It is excellant on sand as the sand falls thru and doesnt come back up . It can be a bit slippery as the two sheets slide on each other sometimes as you walk on it .

I do a lot of beach and outback
camping and had been using shade cloth on the ground under my tarp which worked reasonably
well. I recently bought an offroad camper and bought a 6.0x2.4 metre C-Gear floor for under the awning area. Used it at Bribie and put a bucket of sand on it – rubbed it into the floor and it just disappeared though the material. As we were camped on sand it was amazing that the sand will travel through, only in one direction. I highly recommend it.

Ranger1, Further- It's not really a tarp... more like a mat.
