Our next trip is to William Creek area still planning things we all want to see Lake Eyre and the natural springs like Bubbler and Coward Springs but we have a couple days to kill , do we go to another area or have a look at something in the area not to be missed.

Anything will be appreciated hate to go there and have time to kill and miss something we should of stayed for.

If you have a few days to kill, go over to Coober Pedy, its only 160km away and well worth the drive. the road is good and quite a few interesting things to see along the way.
another idea is to take a plane trip from wiliam creek which will take you over places you can just not get to. This is from our trip last year. This assumes you are travelling up the Odnadatta, also contact the Odnadatta pub for one of their free mud maps, it was great, full of good info all the way up.

Thanks Tim ,
Dad was a Opal miner for a while and we spent some time living in Coober pedy so sort of seen most of it.

Between WC & Oodnadatta - Peake Repeater stn / copper mine ruins, Strangways (old tracking Kinetheodolite base and ruins from Woomera rockets days) Algebuckina Bridge and water hole on the Neales river. May pay to "do the triangle of WC, CP and Oodnadatta and back to WC if you have the time! Along that route you will also get the Painted Desert! (between Cp & Oodnadatta)

G'day Scoof

Get hold of the little book Oodnadatta Track from www.outbacktravellers.com.au. (I haven't checked to see if exploroz sells it). It has all the good info incl strip maps, places of interest, etc etc.

Can recommend the 2-hr flight out of William Creek with Wright Air (I think that's the right name) - goes over the painted hills and then out over Lake Eyre.

The Oodnadatta Track is a beaut trip with plenty of interesting stops between towns.

Have a great trip

Cheers
John

Have to agree with John about this 2 hour trip. Its certainly worth doing. Try early morning or late afternoon to get the best pictures as you fly over the painted hills.

Scoof,

Just back from the area.
Painted Desert and the Breakaways are also worthwhile.
