OK, so Sue has placed you at Midland.Check out this trip planner (one of many similar planners) to help you compare the various options.

From Midland to Port Hedland via Brand Hwy and NWCoastal hwy to the junction of GNhwy just south of Port Hedland is around 1700 klms - straight up GN hwy again from Midland is just under 1600klms to the same junction. I am rather partial to going the Great Northern Hwy direction because I really love the scenery between Munjina and Port Hedland AND because we lived in Karratha for many years and was always using the NWC hwy so the other way was a bit of a change!!

There are things to see on both roads but the NWC Hwy has Geraldton and Carnarvon for those forgotten supplies and "cheaper" refuels.

Coming back to the topic on membership - I am envious if you joined up during the "sale". I had every intention of doing the same but unfortunately missed the cut off date. Yes I know I can still join but am still trying to work out what the benefits are for us.

Ha ha, never mind: maybe they'll have 43% off next year (when David turns 43). Dunno, maybe I'll wait until he turns 98 or something... ;)
