I stumbled over a sponsored link www.kingoftheoffroad.com that claims that the Kimberly Karavan is authorised to enter WA National Parks. Take a look at the following links of this comparo. I searched the WA National Parks site and requested clarification from dept. I will post thier response.
I find this sort of misinformation hard to take let alone all the other wrong information that is on this google sponsored link

I don't get this. the site is unashamedly a marketing medium for Kimberley, and what's wrong with that? The home page makes the allegiance quite explicit. What is the problem? If the offending material relates to the ban on caravans in, for example, the Bungle Bungles, and the apparent OK to camper trailers, then maybe there's some factual info, or even (dare I say it) a ploy to promote the Kimberley Prattline equivalent as a CT not a Caravan??
Give us the story, not the conspiracy theory!

Hi Chris, That's OK but if the guy is telling us that the Kimberly is the only "van" that is approved to enter national parks in WA without confirmation from the Govt. Organisation responsible then I believe this wrong!

Hi Syd R
Having taken our Kimberley Karavan into the Bungle Bungle, last year, I did so because of the approval from the then Minister for the Environment; Climate Change; Peel and I quote from a copy of his 2007 letter to another person.
"The Department of Environment and Conservation's Director of Parks and Visitor
Services has viewed the specifications of the Kimberley Karavan and noted that it
was built on the chassis of the Kimberley Kamper. Therefore, for the purposes of
your visit he has determined that your Kimberley Karavan meets the specifications of an off-road camper trailer and you are permitted to enter the park."
Apparently, the other caravans do not meet this criteria,eg., single axle, length and width, etc. The track in is mostly very basic especially through the station owned track and but does improve slightly when entering the Park. Some creek crossings and rises are quite sharp.
Maybe this will answer your "sort of misinformation" post.
Cheers

OK! Where can we get this Mr Peel to view the specifications etc. Beside is he an engineer? What authority does he have to make these assumptions? Would you be good enough to give me his details so I can contact him.

Last time i looked Ministers take advice from staff, other Agencies and external consultants. One does not have to be an Engineer to become the Minister, rather use the "team" to provide the answer. Sheez.

Hi Syd R

You are computer literate so I guess you can find the contact details for the Minister responsible for the WA Department of the Environment yourself. The Minister and Government have changed since that letter was written.

Cheers

Syd,

Something else that comes to mind and I don't know the detail but Nat Parks in WA are going to impose rules regarding grey water.

You are going to need an extra tank to collect this and not dump on the ground.

Kimberley are preparing for this and have moved the water tanks already onboard to cater for the extra that will be required.

Not sure when this is to come into effect but it is coming.
Actually think I read about it on this site some time ago.

Cheers
Garth

Business must not be going too well if you have to go that low to get a sale.

It's lowered their credability.

It's good to know they must not think much of their own brand if they have to go to the effort of comparing them selves with other brands.....no faith in their own product.

Many products compare themselves to their competitors...standard practice i would believe. In these tough economics times, every edge a product can get over the competitors, they generally will.

Whilst that site is rather limited, it doesn't seem to be like the standard website quality of The Kimberley Group.

It's something I would not expect Kimberley Camper to be involved with, I thought their standards were higher than this....obviously I was wrong.

As I said before it's lowered their credibility a fair bit with me.

Hi All, Just an update regarding my query to the DEC relative to the claim that the Kimberly Karavan was the only authorised Offroad Caravan to be able to go into WA national parks. This is fro Neil Taylor, Purnululu World Heritage Area Manager

Syd, Good Morning from sunny Kununurra.

I'm the Purnululu World Heritage Area Manager and responding to your
attached email.

Syd the website is not a Department of Environment and Conservation(DEC)
one so it cannot speak for DEC National Parks. I can only speak for
Purnululu National Park and access to Purnululu is by 4WD only and
single axle off road vans.
DEC would not make a rule on a particular brand of van but rather refer
to specifications eg axle numbers, axle loadings(where a bridge is
concerned), etc.

Hope this clears up your concerns,

Regards Neil Taylor
