Hi All.
Heading off in 2 weeks for our trip. Have done our research about what's to see and do along the way but also wanted to ask here to see what other people can suggest as we have never been up this way before. Would love to hear about places to visit, places to stay, especially around Port D and Cooktown. Will be going for about 5weeks. Myself, hubby and our 7yr old boy.

Thanks in advance,
Hayley & Demc

We pull intoCape Hillsborough -north of Mackay not far from Airlie Beach
and also behind Cardwell - there is a placed called Murray Falls in the bush and beside a beautifull creek and waterfalls , good camp spot
Last time we did the drive up the Cape treb road we overnighted at Mossman caravan Park ,then spent the day travelling through steady to camp at The Lions Den Hotel down the back along the river ,beautiful spot ,but recommend down the back near the river in the quite area.from there its a short drive to cooktown If you want to travel inland a little near Rockhamton - Cannie Gourge near Monto is a nice spot for a couple of days

* Josephine Falls just north of Innisfail. 10 minutes off highway. 2 minute walk to falls.

* Bloomfield Falls. Turn left after crossing the Bloomfield river south of Wujal Wujal, north of Cape Trib.

Go up Castle Hill in Townsville

Camp at Wonga Beach near the Daintree Ferry - Walk North to the mouth of the Daintree (good walk)

Drive up Grassy Hill in Cooktown, Climb Mt Cook in Cooktown 3k & 850m

Visit as many falls as you can - they are all good. Cheers Tony

Hi,

Paranella(??) Park near Innisfail is a great place for kids to explore/ swim/feed fish and holds some real history for adults.

Its been a few yrs but the fish and chip at Mossman used to serve red emperor fillets. Best fish ever.

Also the road through the Daintree and up past Black Mountain is a highlight.
