Thanks to all out there for some helpful info replied to my last thread - I have now bought a 4x4 hilux SR dual cab tray....I am wanting to fit current SR5 rims and tyres but have heard they wont fit because the SR has larger brakes??? ....Can anyone confirm different brake sizes or will current SR5 alloys bolt straight on to my SR? (and yes I am getting flares if wheels can be changed).....also... will my SR wheel nuts suit?

Thanks to all, Dave.

I doubt that there would be different front brake disc rotor and rear bake drum diametres between the Hilux SR and SR5's. They are the same vehicle except for trim and bling level, they run the same engines, transmission, and rear cart springs etc, so load ratings would be the same or similar.

As to the different wheel studs, the steel SR wheels would be a tapered seat nut and the usual Toyota 12mm x 1.5 mm pitch, however the alloy SR5 wheels may have a shank nut, best use the same nuts for the same wheels, but also make sure they have the same wheel stud length between the SR and SR5.

Dave,

For all info on Hilux's check out www.newhilux.net.

The brakes and calipers will not effect the fitting of SR5 alloys. They will bolt straight on, but you will need wheel nuts to suit the alloys.

There is plenty of stuff on the Newhilux website that you will find invaluable.

Brakes and suspension are the same on all of the Hilux 4x4's

The wheels are interchangable.

The steel wheel nuts will not suit alloy wheels, if you are buying a set of alloys they should have the wheel nuts with them.

Not sure if the alloy rims will sit inside the front gaurds, you may have to fit flares.
