Great blog. I do not know what tyre pressures you were running but would have thought that 40psi was still very high. I usually about 24psi on those good dirt roads.

Thanks for the comments. Afraid tyre pressures are one of those areas that there seems to be no real consensus of what is correct. We stuck with the advice of the expert lady at Innamincka who has worked with tyres in that area for many years and had no further problems for the trip. We had a tray top camper and gear on board so we were carrying about 1 tonne all the time.
