Cheers

George, we were in there last year but did not purchase fuel.
According to HEMA, fuel is available "M-F 9.30am-4.30pm, Sat 9.30-12noon (Central Time) 80 8956 8453 NO CREDIT CARDS" Most communities are also closed for lunch between 12 and 2.

Cheers,

George Hi

We just got home from traveling the Gary Junction rd, it is in very good condition 60 - 80 km/hr but drive to the conditions it will be fine.\

Kunawarritji = $3.20 per l
Kintore = $1.65 per l
for Diesel

you need to check times as the times on hema maps are wrong, some as Kintore are only open ever hour so line up, Kunawarritji we waited an hour while they had lunch, everyone has to eat,

we made up a day and a 1/2 than planed.

Cheers

Hi Richard,
It makes us all wonder why there are such great variations in fuel prices. As you would agree, Kintore is fairly remote and a long way from their major fuel supplier.
I rang Tjukayirla Roadhouse today for a diesel price update and it is still $1.90 per litre. The chap said further up, it was $2.05 and $2.10 per litre. I would assume he is referring to Warburton and Warakurna.

We only paid $2.00 last year at Kintore when we were all paying through the nose for fuel. What were the prices like in the Great Central like when you were there recently.

Cheers

Stephen

Tjukayirla = $1.90 / l
Warakurna = $2.00 / l
Laverton = $1.36.9 / l

Kunawarritji = $3.20 / l The Fuel has to come from Port Hedlard by road train Puna and them only (long haul)

Cheers

Richard

Payed $2.20 / l at Forrest last year it was only 2 cents more then Caiguna and I needed 218.4 L...

Glen

We left Kunawarritji after refueling around 2.00 pm WA time camped over night before Jupiter well (could not make it) and got into Kintore at 4.30 PM the next day for fuel NT time left camp at 7.30 - 8.00 am stoped to look at things and take photos.

We called into Kiwirrkurra for fuel but they were closed open at 2.30pm we had enouth and had a look at Lens Truck.

It's a good outback road like most of the roads in SA's outback, we made up 2 days on our trip.

Cheers

Richard

If some of these time don't add up... I'm at work and only using my own Brain... LOL

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your Followup on this thread re fuel prices/road conditions/camping. We will be heading across the GJR from Alice mid July. I was planning on camping west of Mount Liebig at the earth tank/Jupiter Well/Kunawarritji - 3 days travel. Do you think this time frame is OK - we are in no hurry. If you can suggest any other campsites that we could consider, could you send the Lat/Long to me.
Where is Mt Leisler?
Many thanks, Robyn

Hi Richard

I will send you a message in a day or two to ask about your trip. We have just arrived at son's at Wickham.

On checking my emails tonight, my friends "The Wattos" went from Warakurna through the Sandy Blight road to the Gary Junction, then to Alice via Haasts Bluff. The Sandy Blight was a slow trip with the Phoenix.

Gday Richard,

Thanks for the info, That's a great photo you have attached.
We will be heading out in late July and doing the Gary Junction and Kidman on our way to Cape Leveque. May even put in some fishing somewhere along 80 mile beach.

Does anyone have the phone number for Kintore? We will probably get some diesel at Kiwikurka to see us through to Kintore.
