Hi Guys
I have a 1999 Hilux Dual Cab 2.7 Petrol with 75,000 clicks on the clock and am currently getting 400Kms (At best) per 65 Lt tank. My question is this about the right for a Hilux.
Cheers

Sorry guys here is a little more info. Its a stock standard Hilux with no load driving in normal outer city conditions. City or Highway doesn't make any difference. 400km per tank (max)

Anthony,

Have you had it since new or has it returned better economy in the past. What size tyres are you running. Have you changed anything ie gone to bigger/smaller tyres which affects speedo error etc. Has it had any mechanical work done on it lately. Have you checked to make sure air cleaner not blocked? Lot of variables there so you probably need a bit more info.We have so little time to enjoy our land

I've got exactly the same vehicle and get 550 - 600kms highway driving, probably around 450kms around town. Mine does have 97,000kms on the clock but that surely wouldn't make too much difference. I'd be checking air/fuel filters and making sure your front hubs aren't engaged (sounds stupid I know but I have been guilty of this one!).

I am no mechanic but it may also be worth throwing a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank - I do so every 10,000km (every second oil change).

Good luck.

I have a 3l diesel Hilux that gets about the same, but 80% of its driving is done in 4wd, crawling through the bush, runs on 31 X10.5 tyres carrying a heavy load and is then flogged home on the tar at around 110kph (1/2 that going up hills, doh!!). Sits in the shed during the week, thus very little city driving. So, I would suggest that visit your mechanic, or wear lighter boots.

Cheers
