Hi All. Our 15 week adventure across to Western Australai starts tommorrow when we roll out of Brisbane.

The Prado will need its 140K service in Broome. Does anyone know of a good service centre?

A 2 sec google search revealed a Toyota dealer in Broome.

Dont know if that qualifies as a good service place but would do me.

Will check them out when I get there tomorrow.

I can say where I would definitely *NOT* go, from my own personal experience, not heresay but I'm able to prove it beyond any doubt, not just 'reasonable' doubt.

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the place, or maybe I really want to forget their name and the hassles they created for me.
I posted their name and the hassles on here after it happened, however can't find it today, so will not guess it other than to say they are suggesting they referred to themselves as a 'diesel specialist'

I evoked Google including 'yellow page' and they did not appear
maybe they went out of business (hopefully)

Hi Bradby
We have had a couple of services and some mechanical repairs done at
Minshull Mechanical in Guy Street phone 0891921168 and have been very happy with them. You might need to book ahead as they are usually quite busy.
Enjoy your trip

Regards Peter

Also stay away, have a look at the amount of cars in there yard from people who cant afford to pay the money these guys charge. They will do work that they werent asked to do, or will find something that ''Urgently''' needs fixing.

What does a 140k service entail on a Prado?
If its a fairly involved service,I would blow the money and go to a dealer.

I have my 2007 Prado D4D booked in at Broome Toyota for service on our trip which starts early July..

Had my 80 series serviced there a few years back and all good.

A friend has used them too and gives them the thumbs up.

Stay away from Broome Toyota at all costs, PLEASE. I have been burnt by them twice now. Never again, service manager is an absolute a hole. They charge like a wounded bull also. I know mechanics and managers who have now left and they arent happy with what they were made to do while there. Believe me, unless you are a 7 foot bikie, they are going to rip you a new one, and they wont even do all the work that they charge for. Stay Away, i now go to Tropical Motors ClubShed Automotive.

Used Broome Toyota twice with no dramas in July 07 and July 08 but they do charge.
What dealer doesn't.

Broome Toyota has been brought out and the head mechanic has moved on, The new mechanics are unknown to me and I can't comment but I here they still charge high.
The old Toyo mechanic now works at the BP on Clemenston St.
We take our cars to Broome Central which is behind the BP on Fredrick St and are happy with the service.
Not sure whats involved in you 140k service, If its a major service you probably have peace of mind going with someone who deals with Toyota's day in and out. BP Clemenston St or Toyota,
I have been recommended the shed from some locals.

Most cars here are Toyota's and all mechanics have had there far share of experience. It is peak season and the yards are full and the costs are high, thats just the way it is.

Just a note, do make sure you book in and advise them of the works required and parts that will be needed, Most parts have to come from perth and take a day or two to get here.
