Are there any extra costs in addition to rego (~$275 in ACT) + inspection fee?
Stamp duty is abolished in NSW from 1 July 2009, but I don't know if ACT has it?
Thanks!

Why don't you make a phone call to the people in Govt who look after this type of stuff?
In 10 minutes you would have a correct answer.

If buying from a dealer then there are 'No Add Ons" The price displayed or quoted must be the Drive away Price. New law took effect on the 25th May.

It is my belief that Stamp Duty still applies to Rego transfers in NSW, & A.C.T.
Reductions to SD for
home buyers was introduced in the NSW Budget. I did
read where SD was abolished on caravans & c/t but have not confirmed it.
cheers...oldbaz.
PS..if reregistering you will nedd to pay for rego fee, Green slip &
inspection slip.

ACT still has stamp duty on new registrations (new or used vehicles).

"Stamp duty will be abolished on 1 July 2001 following the introduction of the GST", yeah right! Yes, you'll have to pay Stamp Duty at $3 per $100 (or part of $100) of the market value or purchase price (whichever is greater).
