Hi All,

I downloaded a trek log to experiment with ozi-exlore and of course am considering this trek very soon. But once I opened it in ozi it looks like this? Is this normal? How can one navigate with a line such as that? What have I done wrong? Computer navigation is very new to me.Image Could Not Be Found
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter
Having a quick look, it looks like you have the track colour set at white and the track width is very wide. For Desert work, I have my track details in blue and a line width of 3.
Have a play with your track file and see what happens.

Cheers

Stephen

I should have said, that looks like one of my trek files heading down into no mans land, avoiding the Aboriginal Lands after The Twins.

Thanks Stephen,

I got it working once last night. After a shut down, could not get it working again but I think with time, patience and a year to play with it I should be able to sort it out.
I am looking at heading out that way. It sure does look good for photos. Can I ask how long it took when you did it? Do you think it would be wise to do it solo? With all the necessary emergency equipment of course.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
I would not suggest that you travel out in that area solo purely for a safety issue. If you only went as far as The Twins, and then returned the way you went it may be alright, but I still think you still want an extra vehicle just for that peace of mind. Even though it is virgin country out to The Colson Track, you will every now and then find a few faint tracks that will disappear as quick as you found them. There will be times when the dunes are soft and steep but now rear problems if you are an experienced desert sand driver. On the Colson Track you would then head south and under no circumstances cross the Colson and head to Geosurvey Hill. It is very soft travelling, with constant boggings and would be extremely unsafe to travel solo. It may sound strange, but there were a number of times that we had to accelerate going down some of the very large dunes, as the sand was soft and our vehicles started to go sideways. On the steeper dunes, a couple of the ladies refuse point blank to drive down the dunes as a passenger and walked down, there are some very big dunes. Also it would be impossible for a solo vehicle to head back from the east and travel west, the dunes are just too steep. If you still set on going out that way, get a group of about 4 - 5 vehicles as safety barrier. It took us nearly 3 days from the Colson Track to Geosurvey Hill, just a normal drive of about 65 Kilometres.

Cheers

Stephen

Peter,
Take another shot of burboun, then use the "track control button" on the top tool bar and open the Track Control window as shown, double click the loaded track and change the colour and line width etc. save & close and your track should appear as requested, as shown above. If it works then repeat the first item & take another shot.
Cheers Colin
