Mate of
mine's heading over to East Bondi in a couple of months to smell the mud and buy a woolly jumper ... :-) and wants to take a nav device with him.
What's the best street navigator (Tom Tom, Garmin etc) to get and what touring maps are available?

Navman will work over there. All you have to do is suck in the information.

I would think a tom tom will also work ,as I have been told they are all using the same or very similar operating systems ,I'm sure there will be some very knowledgeable people on here that will expand .

Simple answer is
They will all work if you have the correct maps Which are available on the makers websites.
NZ has had electricity for a while. and tar seal for roads was discovered a few years ago.
Tell your mate to take the wooly jumper off the sheep before he trys it on.
Despite the sheep jokes against Kiwis, Australia has a higher sheep to people count by a long way.
Have fun its really a nice place despite all the Aussie tourists over there.
