Darkie has been to the Doctor's

Today marked the day that Darkie had a trip to the Doctor's to get his drinking and smoking problem fixed. He has only just cracked 108 000kms.

His fuel economy was shocking, averaging 16-18 L/100km and had a cloud of black sooty smoke to go with it.

The diagnosis was that the injectors were not atomising the fuel and the pressures were low. The reconditioned injectors should be done by lunch time tomorrow and he should be right for a test run on Saturday to see if the economy has improved and that he has given up smoking.

If that fails I think the IP will need some work done on it :(

cheers Kev

Axle,

Before I had it it was only a city driven vehicle so it probably had short runs etc.

When I win the lotto on Tuesday I'll be trading Darkie for a Dual Cab 200 series for SWMBO and a Dual Cab 4 door Troopy for me LOL

If I don't win then Darkie will be here till I win it haha

Geez Kev

Darkie is drinking and smoking at such a young age, what only 6 years old, could it be the shock of having his rear end altered, or is it just a phase he is going through, lets hope they won't have to work on his head.

Cheers

I am hoping that it is only minor growing pains and he has learnt his lesson LOL

Next on the list of "To Do" items is to replace all water hoses, thermastat and water pump before the trip west next year for the Wiluna Gathering. OH and replace those crappy Cooper ST's ;)

Cheers Kev

Sir Kev, Our 80 series is going better than it ever did since the injectors were done, the pump checked and the valve clearances done. All that on top of the aftermarket turbo and exhaust. Now done 230000kms and really pulling well with good consumption to boot at about 14 l/100 kms.
good luck with yours,
Ian

Ian,

I have been suggesting that the valves need doing (well at least checking) but they are confident that it is just the injectors.

If the symptoms are not cured with just the injectors and fuel filter done then the IP and Valves are next to be done.

Kev,
Darkie is lucky only having cosmetic surgery.

One of our poor new V8 engines at work suffered lack of cooling water and suffered heat stroke. Flying doc came in but nothing could be done to revive it.

Verdict from the Doc!! If it was a Qld engine it would be still going, he believed it came from NSW and had a weak ticker.

Have a good one

I have just picked Darkie up from the Doc's and can report he has given up smoking, the flat spot is gone. I'll have to do a run to check the fuel economy over the weekend.

So watch out Ross, He is out to get you LOL
