Hi all, Does anyone out there know of a new model prado due for release late this year or early 2010?
Is there a website where we can get some info? The Toyota website contains no relevant information.
Thanks Fi and Ro

Hi Fi... Yes , My son has just purchased the Prado Diesel. He was quite surprised to find that it had two ninety lt fuel tanks on it. He had Bull Bar and Tow Bar fitted and a few more extras. They told him that they would give him a full tank of fuel on delivery. Son was overwhelmed when he checked the fuel gage to find he had 180 lts in the the tanks. Evidently the pre-delivery department did not realise that it had two fuel tanks. Lucky

The 2010 Prado is due for its Australian launch in November. This may also be the global launch timeframe given this is a very different vehicle from the current one.

Pricing has yet to be determined regardless of the comments on some other websites and the model mix will remain the same.

You can expect to see some cascade down technology from the LC200 and some quite spectacular new technology in the higher end models. As for engines they will most likely remain the same but more fuel efficient and with more power.

Waiting for a new model always raises lot of issues. For example there is nothing wrong with the current model and you have plenty of proven accessories ready to go now.

It will take the aftermarket providers at least six to twelve months to develop a full range of equipment and test it thoroughly. So if you were planning a decent trip with a new one then you may be waiting a while for some items. This is normally the way given the complexity of new 4WD and the need to have things like bull bars work in conjunction with airbags and stability control working correctly after suspension changes. Just as two examples. If you want more power you can always chip the engine

Apart from that like all manufacturers you can anticipate that Toyota will call last drinks on 120 Prado around August this year on their production line so the current model may be in short supply with some models and option packs. For example a GXL with Option pack one.

Given the popularity of the current model you can probably only expect discounts to appear when the new one has been released and dealers are wanting to clear old stock. So there may be some bargains around October and November but choice will also most likely be limited as well.

So the short answer is it all depends on what you want
