Hot off the press...
For those that go to the Snowys, the results of consultation on the change to tyre and chain regulations are out.
Good news (depending on your POV) - No change.
Copied from letter sent from RTA this afternoon:
1 July 2009
Dear stakeholder
Thank you for your interest in the proposed changes to the Winter Tyre and Snow Chain Regulation.
Following widespread community consultation and considered
views put to the Roads and Traffic
Authority (RTA) from residents, businesses and users of the ski-fields, Premier Nathan Rees has
announced that there will be no change to the current laws relating to the use of snow chains in the
Snowy Mountains.
The NSW Government has reviewed the many submissions received and recognised that an
additional impost on businesses in the current economic climate simply can’t be justified.
The NSW Government acknowledges the hard work done by Monaro MP Steve Whan, Snowy
Mountains Tourism, Perisher and
Cooma Visitors Centre in facilitating this outcome.
