Hi all,
Thought I might post a link to a travel photo competition as I know there is many of you with some great photos of Australia. This link is to my picture I have entered so if you like it please vote for it. If not enter a
pic yourselves. If you do vote for it you can still enter a
pic yourselves.
Harbour Reflections
I am in no way affiliated with the competition but I admit I am self promoting my picture. Please vote if you like it.
By the way a message for Michelle if you read this thread. I finally joined NCP Camera club :)

Peter,
Thanks.
Sold a few postcards and a few posters.
A couple from my red bubble site but mostly from a red bubble site that was set up to raise money for a charity. I'm just a keen amateur.

Mate, I *thought* I had some nice pics of Australia, but I'd be ashamed to enter any of them after seeing a photo like that -
well done!

Peter,
Do you mind sharing the specs on this shot for us to learn some of your techniques?

Hi Andrew and jvb1.
I don't mind sharing my techniques. I was cruising along the foreshore of the harbour one night and thought that a
pic of the
bridge would be nice with the reflection I saw.
The shot I took was not really that nice as it was too late at night.
Next night I went back and watched the sun set and this is the result of waiting for about 30 mins after sunset but with a few bourbons under my belt.
Back in the day of using film the magic hour was before sunset but now I am finding that it is after sunset but there is still only 1 minute of every day to get the perfect shot. 30 seconds in the morn and 30 seconds in the evening.
The camera is a Nikon D700 (But that dosent really matter) and the lense was a 28mm f2.8. (This is what really matters)
Best thing I ever learned is think of the light "BURNING" onto the film. The more light you have the more over exposed the shot is.........

I am sure u would see some woefal shots....... I worked in a photo lab for many years. But having said that I am sure you have seen pictures that are 10 times better than that.
