I once bought two R Grippers one on a rim both had a lot of tread and cost a hundred each. Not long After I was running them the sidewalls started to crack badly. I am guessing they were run on low pressure long time. Who knows but I always wondered if the seller knew. (paranoid me).

I have had a few good deals however and I am in front. The split rims are not worth much these days. A dealer once sold me one for twenty bucks so they are worth five I reckon.

I have hilux rims to give away to anyone who needs them.

I have plenty of rubber up my sleeve so I would offer fifty for a really good one with the moulding nipples still showing where the road meets the tyre. If I really needed one, and remember a one off is not matched to your others and you may not know on which side the tyre has been run, I would offer half the new price and know that there is still a risk involved.

But that's me, Owen. good luck
