Looking for suggestions on suitable SAFE
free camping spots between Hervey Bay and Mackay close to the main highway for a car + 16' caravan?? or any other spots in
Bundaberg and
Rockhampton that are free and/or cheap for overnight stays preferably with at least access to
toilets mainly......travelling with two small kids so SAFE is basically centred around them mainly.
Look forward to your receiving your help as we are leaving Hervey Bay on Monday afternoon bound for
Bundaberg for the first night???
Cheers

I'll 2nd Calliope,
Great spot on either side of the river with ammenities. The
bridge across the river at the camping grounds is now closed to all vehicles access is now from either end of the Old Bruce Highway :)
Cheers Kev

You have 3 good
rest area's that'll have other caravans in.
1 North side of
Gin Gin
2
Granite Creek between
Gin Gin and
Miriam Vale,
3 Waverly Creek between Marlborough and
Sarina

Sharon Nature Park is located at Sharon, about 15 minutes from
Bundaberg on the road to
Gin Gin.
There are
toilets there and most nights you will have the company of at least 6 or 8 other travellers. It is legal to free-
camp at this location for up to 48 hours I think.
