Just back from 3 days at QVS. Track conditions are good. the top half of the reserve has been extensively burnt out by bushfires over the last couple of years but the bottom half is still good. The fires didn't quite reach the spring.

Hi Ricochet,

Did you find anywater in it?

I went there in 2006; there was no-water there then. Shame the fire didn't reach the spring (indeed if it is really the spring) as the area could do with a good burn.

There was a puddle, nothing to get excited about though.

hey if im not mistaken if both our shots had been taken at the same time we would have nearly been facing each other from either end of the spring

how are you getting there? depending on which way you are going there is a bit of detour /short cut following a telegraph track you can follow that passes a couple of watering point rockholes and a bit of a side treck to hunts pinnacles

OK this is a cut and past from an EO post a few years back

In Search of Hunts Pinnacles
Well didnt actually have to look to far I first saw these pinnacles from Gilgarna rockhole while on a trip to Queen Victoria Springs and but them on the next time list although there was no obvios track leading to them.
I took off from kalgoorlie and headed n/e along yarria road past kanowna belle Mine and then the Hills which make a good playground. Just after the hills it is east onto the Kurnalpi pinjin road until (all 51j) e 437829 n 6626541 where there is a grid and you turn right following the fenceline until e437476 n6628665 where you come to yowie rockhole and turn r through an open gate onto an old telegraph line. e4445588 gilgarna rock and rockhole kso until e445591 n 6644036 where there is an open gate but you head left (n) if you go straight on you rejoin the Kurnalpi pinjin road. e443803 n 6620269 there is a tank alongside the track and looking to your left is Hunts Pinnicles you drive accross the samphire salt pan to get to it e442633 n6649896. They are a series of steep hills grouped together that tower above the flat soroundings with breakaway formations at there base and caves higher up with a cairn atop the highest pinnicle. This trip is easily do able as a day trip from kalgoorlie or can be part of a longer trip to Queen victoria Springs

This is the approxamate route to take - it is not a proper track file as i hadnt heard of Ozi or moving map back then

this track pretty much follows the telegraph line to old pinjin

Argggg disregard the previos followup

Just after the hills it is east onto the Kurnalpi pinjin road until (all 51j) e 437829 n 6626541 where there is a grid and you turn right following the fenceline

this should read

Just after the hills it is east onto the Kurnalpi pinjin road until (all 51j) e 437829 n 6626541 where there is a grid and you turn LEFT (North) following the fenceline

G O,

Thanks for all the info. I've added it all to my trip notes and will try to get out there. It doesn't seem like too much of a detour and looks like good country.

Thanks again,
