Hi Folks,

Has anyone stayed in this caravan park and if so what were your thoughts please? Once winter is out of the way, we thought we might spend a bit of time there. Some serious wineries to check out.

Cheers

Brian

G'day Brian
Can't comment on that particular park.
Have stayed in the Blue Topz and Top of Town. ToT allows fires in designated spots. Not sure on BT as we only overnighted in a cabin and pressed on. ToT - not much traffic noise. BT - heaps since right on highway.
Fantastic area that Granite Belt.
If you/wife like pottery be sure to go and check out the one out near the Maze (northern side of Stanthorpe). Can't think of name but they have very nice stuff.
Wineries - heaps.
Sundown NP is a nice place if you want a bit of a 4WD experience.
Girraween NP is really nice too - excellent when wildflowers come out. Nice easy 4WD track around the back. Some good walks in there.
Used to live in Tenterfield and we have often returned to that area - love it.
Cheers from the Moose

Hi Moose,

We haven't been in the area for a long time so that needs to change. Thanks for the information.

Cheers

Hi Brian

We had a great weekend recently camping at Somerville Valley Caravan Park about 10km from Stanthorpe on the banks of Storm King Dam. It's near Girraween NP, east of hwy. Very good modern facilities and energetic helpful hosts, lots of space. Quite a few backpackers and seasonal fruit pickers etc stay there. I think there were some self contained cabins there too but our group was camping. And you're right, there are plenty of quality wineries competing for your dollar!

Cheers, Gado

Hi Gado,

Thanks for that. I just had a look at their website and it looks pretty good. Might even try and score a fish or two in Storm King Dam.

Have a good one.
