Hi Guys

Me and my girls are leaving our jobs and taking off on our first big trip around OZ in early January 2010. We have plans to work in Alice Springs in mid Feburary, so we need to head up that way in mid Feb, but in the month of Janurary we are free agents and are looking at travelling to some nice spots before we head up to Alice. Afetr working in Alice for a few months we want to head up to the Kimberly in June/July for a month or so then find work again in the surrowding areas. When is the best time to find work up that way?

If anyone has any Ideas that would be great. We are leaving from Melbourne 3rd Jan 2010. We have a 60 Series Landcruiser in very good condition, rooftop tent and all the essentials to survive life on the road. We have done a bit of 4WDing in the past and are keen campers

Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

Tim

hello do the course "responsible serving of alcohol" and you will get work in all the licensed restaurants and bars, licensed roadhouses etc. you can do it on the internet, for about $40.00 its nationally credited.
get hold of the book harvest highway its a freebie one from tourist centres tells you where all the fruit picking is and time of year.
Caravan parks always looking for cleaners ring ahead before the busy season and you will get a job for sure.
theres a register where you can house sit for people where they go away, just have to feed a dog or cat or somehting usually short term but it good break and cheap. my daughter did it and lived in luxury for while most people just want you to feed pets water garden etc you get free rent and can holiday in the town just cant find the number at the moment for it, as long as you have a police clearance you will get in.
hope this helps, cheers Ronnie

May , June, July, August are prime mustering season, a couple of phone calls to local cattle stations and they are always looking for workers to cover all bases from mustering to general hand to cooks etc. Wife and I did 4 mths of it in the Pilbara
last year and had a ball.
The RSA ticket as mentioned is also very helpful to have.

cheers Unc
