Hi Mick
It is a great road and easy to drive. How long it will take to drive is like asking how long is a piece of string. The last time we took the road, just over 12 months ago, we took 1 day and two nights. It also happened to be the very first road to be built by Len Beadell. Below are a couple of photos of what you can expect.

Stephen,
We did this route several years ago and had a difficult time with permits. I was thinking of publishing a trek note on the area as we have all the data and images however I was always put off on the permit issues. How did you go with access permits?

I think you will find he only did the bottom bit Hwy to Mulga Park then up to Mt Connor as in my trip back in 2003

Maybe - we did the Mulga Park to Giles route and it is this I am interested in finding out about. We had a hard time arranging the permits but it was a nice route with get landscapes. Thought I would ask anyway.

Plotswap - I will have a look am I 80% way through a complete rewrite of the mapping engine and data interface for all our maps so I may have broken it will check - however the map will show EO treks as well as Plots at the moment. Anyway will check.

Hi David,
The only section of this road that the general public are legally able to travel is the section from the Stuart Highway, to as far as Mulga Park homestead, then north towards Curtin Springs The road further to the west and out via Kalka is permit only as you would know, and very hard to obtain. It was only for the fact that I know aboriginal people out there, that we were given a "Family Visit" permit. Damian has my Trek file for the general public road, as well as my photos on record. If you need them again, just let me know. The photos below are at Mulga Park, and all traffic must head north, unless you have permits.

Hi we did the Mulga Park road in June 09.
Was a pretty good run through and was graded recently. A few washouts to look for but are clearly marked as you approach them.
It took us roughly 4 hours with a lunch stop and a couple of photo stops.
We travelled from the Stuart highway to curtin springs and it was overall a well maintained road.
As long as its dry then its fine.
