Hi all
As is often mentioned on here, it can be frustrating trying to plot a route for a trip with information giving lat/long co-ordinates in differing formats. Son in law is a computer guru, so I got him to write a short program for me (us) in Virtual Basic. I have uploaded it to the members Fileswap area. It is a small, convenient program to download and use... just enter the co-ordinates in the format that you have, hit the Calculate button, and it will show the results in the other 2 formats. So, if you have co-ordinates in deg. min. seconds, but want decimal degrees, just type in what you have, and hit the Calculate button. It also would show degrees, decimal minutes in the above example. It also works in 'reverse'. Like I said, type in what you have, and the calculations are done for you. I just leave a shortcut to the program on my desktop.
I realise Fileswap is for members only, but non members can email me at ringoz@dodo.com.au and I will forward it to you as an email attachment.
Cheers & safe travels, Dave & Hazel
P.S. Son in law is a good bloke, but he left the I.T. industry, and is now a Highway Patrol officer,,, drive sensibly, he's not overly generous with 'driving idiots'...lol
