Ningaloo Reef Adventure Feedback

Howdy, I'm travelling this way in mid-sept, just wondering how my Subaru Outback will go north to south on the track from Yardie to Coral Bay. Not too worried about the crossing, just going to wait for low tide, and if its not possible at all, I'll just backtrack on the road.

But if the crossing is fine, I'm just a little worried about clearance in the sandy sections. Do they have a pronounced crown in between the two wheel tracks, or is it essentially a sandy road? I know from experience that she don't like 4wd sand tracks with a crown. ;-)

Cheers

Hey Davo,
its a beautiful spot around there, you'll have a lot of fun.
I travelled through there about 2 months ago. There is nothing to the Yardie Creek crossing and its a no brainer at low tide. Let your tyres down a bit because the first 20m south of the Yardie Creek crossing can be a bit soft. The rest of the track is mostly just corrugated dirt.
I dont remember much of a crown in the track, just a lot of corrugations.

Take your time in Ningaloo. Its a great place.

Have fun

Dan

I did this track in May this year, as above its corrugated, there is a pronouced wheel track in some sections that you may skim across.

I drove up to yardie and its very soft sand, you will have no chance crossing it in your Outback, there was one track leading into yardie, the tracks were about a foot deep, then a nose dive into the water about 3 feet, then an instand lift onto a sand bank, followed by a few more dips.

I walked the crossing, and the further I walked the further I sunk into the sand. I didnt attempt it in my cruiser, I certinaly wouldnt attempt it in an Outback, plan to drive up and view it, and then drive back down to get around.
