Is the ExploreOz gathering site, caravan friendly.
Does the road in allow for an on road van (19 f) to be towed in without any undue stress on the van and are there suitable setup sites.
Thanks,
Matt

Also there is a very large area for Vans to set up on. If need be they can be set up along the roads that surround each block. There is 3 blocks in total :))
If an On Road van can make it in there then Roachie will have no worries I reckon LOL

Are we able to have individual fires ( in drum)
I know there will be a communal one but I don't fancy carrying all meals to and from it

Di,
The area will be mown the week before the gathering and I will have a heap of firewood available for individual fires.
All I ask is that fires are correctly tended to when not in
camp, as there are kids attending and the ever present threat of the fire getting away into the surrounding bushland.
In the 1st vidoe in the gathering notes there is a shot of a BBQ, from memory there is 3 or 4 of thse that can be used as
well. Theyt are relatively close to where most people wil be
camping also.
Cheers Kev.

SWMBO Q's and A's
1. Any snakes ? Only longer than 2 metres as these large ones have eaten out all the smaller ones.
2. Any spiders ? Nothing of renown other than the redbackFunnelwebbed bird eating snake killing spider. There are nine of these distributed around the place
3. Will it be cold ? On NZ temps there will be a heatwave

It would be ok if you stopped sending all that wind, rain and snow over this way :-))
I may not have enough $ for my air fares after I pay this months energy bill !

Does
St George have such a good range of tracks as Glenpatrick though? I doubt it. LOL
Been through slush and snow today and on dirt tracks too, as
well as bitumen, towing Kim.

John,
Only if you have a
water tight cab and a long
Snorkel, the river is the only challenge around.
Although where the Steam Engine is there is a quarry that may be fun for some attendee's

Bill,
The
camp site is the old construction
camp that was built for the construction of the Dam and Irrigation system, so the roads around the
camp are semisealed due to zero maintance sinc e the
camp was closed.
Will I need to organise Hazmat to be in attendance as
well?? hehehe

With individual open fires allowed you had better include a 'heads up' to the SES at the same time :-))

KK,
What do you want the local SES to do??
Cut more firewood?? or to do
camp fire watch?? LOL
I don't think we will run out of firewood just quietly and as for looking after fires I think the responsibility should lie with the campers

Thanks,
I was referring to the
St George gathering.
I will be on the road with our van at the time of the gathering and if the conditions are right, I will try to adjust our times and attend the gathering.
Regards,
Matt

Sir Kev,
what sort of shops are at
St George?
I thought that if we are there to support the local businesses we should do all our shopping when we get there.
Does it have the usual
IGA, butchers, liquor outlet,
bakery?
I really can't think of anything else. They all hold the essentials.
cheers

I see in "Places" there is an
IGA and several servos, so I guess it will have everything we need.

Steve,
I updated
St George in the EO
Places.
Yes there is an
IGA, also another
Supermarket.
The Butcher is still there from memory.
Bakery is across the road from
IGAPost office
The BP is the most expensive in St G.
There is also a
Caltex, a no name (was Shell) and also a
Mobil (Bulk fuel distributor that also has bowsers)
All the pubs have a drive through and I think one has a seperate Liquor outlet.
There was also a fruit and veg
shop just not sure it is still open
HTH
Cheers Kev
