This thread is directed at those people who have these gps's.
What are your impressions of them,
are you happy with the operation, easy to use etc.,
Any problems at all?
The reason for asking, is that I am considering upgrading my Magellan Explorist XL. I know that there have been various comments in the but nothing realy constructive.
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony

I have a VMS 3000. Installation was easy and it has proven very reliable.
Not overly impressed with the off road mapping so I may change to Ozi.
I use it as my back in remote areas.

Hi Tony.

I have one of the older models of VMS' product. I am still happy that I bought it for the right reasons for my circumstances.

The number one priority for me was an integrated Oziexplorer solution to replace the GPS/PDA solution I previously used. Second priority was the other features: radio, iPod compatible, bluetooth integration, street navigation.

My version of the product has a number of issues that appear to have been fixed in the new version. I think the new version could be improved by choosing better quality components and by better quality programming and integration. Others will comment that it is expensive compared to do-it-yourself solutions.

But as I have said, I am happy with the purchase and recommend it to others that want a solution with Oziexplorer as the priority.

Cheers
Rod, Perth

Tony, I have one and some of the pictures are in my Profile page.

I have been very happy with the system and it's capability. I have a 3000 Mk II. It takes a little time to get used to the systems as they are stripped down Windows CE - no Windows interface, but a specially designed one.

If you are used to the better Navigational software, I love NavNGo iGo8 software for turn by turn navigation. I didn't like the Memory Map software so am using OziExplorer software instead. There is no support on that software from VMS, but it is well supported around the world without that.

I had a problem with a radio but that was quickly replaced. The VMS crowd are real triers so really good luck to them. Professional with it too.
