Hi,
Does some one make an adjustable towbar tongue
I am trying to get a bit of extra height and can't get one to fit my requirements.
I guess what I am after is similar to what comes with a Hayman Reese WDH.
If any one knows, it would be good to see some pics and locations where you can get one.

Richard,
Have you tried your local caravan yards, most have a range of 50mm square towbar tongues to enable caravans to be set up correctly behind different vehicle towbar heights.
Failing that any competent engineering
shop should be able to fabricate exactly what you need.

Disco,
They are limited around where I am but have tried one without success.
I keep reading about an adjustable Haymen reese tongue but can't find any details about it.
I will keep hunting though and will hit what shops there are.

Hi Richard, I have one on my old Hilux. Instead of the L shaped tongue, it has a flat plate welded on the end of the square hitch tube, with two tapped holes in it. The L shaped tongue that takes the tow ball has a series of holes in it, so you can adjust it up or down, or turn it upside down and adjust if necessary. I bought it from my local trailer spare parts
shop. I will post a pic tomorrow if you like.
Cheers, Dave

Hi,
What I am looking for is something like the Hayman Reese adjustable ball mount - this is the official name - just found that.
You get that with the WDH I think.
Looking forward to Dave's pics as hoefully that is a cheaper solution - unless I have to get a WDH for the caravan - which I am looking into as
well.

Ed,
Thanks for that but I am not using a ball (if that is the right term). I want to fit a different coupling to it Hitchmaster DO25.
Not sure if the above would work with them.

Hi Richard, not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it is what I have. I had to go the other way when I bought it, I needed to get lower, as the Hilux has a bit of a lift. Can't find a brand name on it, nor a weight rating. As you can see, it hasn't been used for some time, I got rid of that van quick smart.... not off road, and fell apart when I tried to take it to a
bush camp site...lol.

Forgot to mention, it is not home made, and cost about $155 from ISP Glendale NSW, they are a spare parts
shop, and sell a lot of stuff for building your own trailers (axles, lights, springs etc)

I think I saw something similar at a local (only) caravan place.
Will investigate again.

Be aware in your searches that not all hitch receivers (the square bit that the goose neck fits into) are the same size or shape. I had great difficulty finding one similar to what you are looking for that would fit into my Toyota receiver (2000 Prado). Although the Toyota one is apparently made by Hayman Reese they have a slightly different profile. As luck would have it, my next door neighbour had one that fitted lying in his garage. Only mentioned it to him after 3 months of searching.

Hi Teege
I must have been lucky too. A few years back I was driving around Newnes area and on one of the
trails came across a 'hitch/tongue' lying in the middle of the trail. I picked it up thinking I may come across the unlucky soul ahead of me who lost it. I never did and later found it fit my Prado (also 2000 series) perfectly and it was longer. The 'new' one being longer allowed me to use it when the standard supplied one didnt suit the van i was towing. cheers....

Hi Teege,
My HR setup did not fit in my Toyota bar, however, all it took was to round off the corners of the solid hitch bar with an angle grinder and all was
well.
Cheers
