Hi,

Anyone found a good group to deal with to claim the solar REC's mounted to a vehicle?

I note some of the places I've checked out round down the credits where as the SGU owners guide states you can round up. Guess that's where the group buying can dictate the rules.

Austravel, I thought this link might help explain your thread: SGU owners guide

But I have to ask, is there any real prospect of a claim for a vehicle mounted unit?

Hi jdwynn,

As far as I'm aware many people have been claiming their solar panels mounted on caravans, motor homes, etc. Just need to work out who gives the better price for the REC.

jdwynn,

Just rang Green Energy and they are paying $36 per REC. That's down around $10 since I last looked. Rang them and they said ok to claim on a vehicle and just fill in the paper work and takes around 1mth. Has to happen within 1 year of purchase.

thanks again Austravel, I calculated 3 rec's (2/80w panels in zone 3 over 15 years), so I guess about$100. Does that sound correct? Only problem I can see now is that I installed / wired it myself. Still it's nice to know how you go about a claim. Cheers

You can only claim in 5 year blocks if you installed it yourself. They round down the rec's unlike the process from ORER. Even so with 2 panels you should get paid for one rec (I think) at $36.

I claimed from "Green energy trading" about a year ago, got two rec's @$49 each, for my 390w system on my caravan, it was already installed by me so all I had to do was send a photo of them with the application.

System Capacity (kW) multiplied by x My Solar Zone Rating 3 multiplied by x My Deeming Period ( 5 years)

(________.39____) kW x (____1.382__________)

x (_________5_______) years = No. of RECs (rounded down to the nearest whole number)

No. of RECs ______2_____ x REC Value $49

= My Payment $ __98_________

REC prices are down by about 25% at the moment because people are waiting for the Federal Govt to pass the Renewable Energy Target legislation. Comes up for a vote again in August. Particular items of relevance to small PV will be the grandfathering rules (if you already have your system installed) and the more generous treatment ie multiple RECs.
