A few people would be aware of a number of questions I had regarding a second hand barrett 2050 i purchased. We'll it is finally all operational via VKS737 and HFOZ. Scott at Olbis industries in Brisbane could not have done more to help me out regarding getting the unit operational, downloading new software to get the GPS and data function on HFOZ functioning and instructions on operation of the unit. This guy is fantastic.

If anyone needs assistance with HF radio or electronic equipment for your vehicle this is your guy.

There wasnt actually anything electronically wrong with it just the fact i didnt know how to use it properly and how clear the communication should be. The software version inside the unit (2 years old) did not support HFOZ sms and GPS service which olbis industries installed for me. I have not had any HF experience prior to this.

Good to see you got it sorted. I assume you live in or near Brisbane.
I have a problem with my HF in a 100 series cruiser with RF generated by the motor electrics. I would like to get another HF near mine to find out how wide spread this RF is. If you would like to help I'd like to meet up sometime and give it a try.
My email address is pfpmike@bigpond.net.au

regards Mike.

Hi burnsy,

Getting rid of RF noise in a vehicle is a "black art"

A relatively simple way to try and trace noise is to use a portable transistor radio off station.

Try this http://www.barrettcommunications.com.au/pdf-files/2000-suppres-kit-instal-BCM20008.pdf

This gives a few clues where to look and suggests what parts to use.

I have just spent hours getting the "drive by wire" noise out of my UHF CB radio.

Those of us that have done this for a living, will tell you while there are some standard fixes, but many will need a personal fix. This can be very frustrating.

Good luck with it.

Shane I would like to contact you but you let any contact details so I am finding it a little bit difficult. You can email me if you like.

Don't like to hijack your post but I also thank those that replied. My hf problem is going to be a long story as both Barrett & Toyota while being helpful have not been able to help much.
