Just installed Firefox 3.5 and I'm impressed at the speed at which it downloads web pages including this one.

I hear from a close reliable techno "Chrome" does more than it is supposed to do
So I was easily talked into deleting it and going back to Firefox 3.5

Cruiser,

I sent this email to a guy who is qualified:
"just a few weeks ago I contacted you about replacing Firefox with Google Chrome, you advised me not to swap, I believe the reason given was that it monitors things too closely, or a similar terminology"

reply, Paul the relevant information is readily and freely available on the tech forums that relate expressly to the system in question, sorry I don't have time at present to assist you further due to business commitments.

However, I also understand how he would not want his name placed on a forum because his name is his business.
We all know the hassle if you put up, what some may consider a controversial reply, that you don't have time to monitor and maintain the reply's to :-)

As he suggests to look on technical forums relating to the subject, I will

Mainey, if there was an automatic spell checker, perhaps it would have picked up that "reply's" should actually be spelt "replies".

Sorry, just stirring....I couldn't resist:-)

And if we really want to be pedantic, that should be "correctly", not "correct." For what it's worth, I think spelling is a much overrated skill.

Chrome v Firefox

"Verdict
Winner: Firefox, just

So have the new builds of IE8 and Chrome changed our minds about our favourite browser? Not really.
Chrome narrowly pips Safari for the fastest browser crown, but Firefox's add-ons still do it for us: while there's a clear difference in performance when you run the benchmarks, on a reasonably specified PC all four browsers run perfectly quickly.

It's a different story on netbooks, though, where Chrome is noticeably faster than IE or Firefox.
If add-ons matter, Firefox is still our pick for desktop browsing; if you prefer speed and simplicity, have a netbook or can be bothered installing an ad-blocking proxy then Chrome is the one to try"

Found this and many others

That article said that Firefox was slower to load up- it certainly didn't prove Firefox to be far and above the competition. There was also no mention of whatever secret information stealing Chrome gets up to, plus any website that uses cookies (and well, that is pretty much all of them) will track information. You can set all of the browsers to not accept cookies.

Personally, I think Google Chrome makes Firefox look like an old clunker of a browser, but you should all use whatever works for you. IE7 didn't work for me (I constantly locked it up and crashed it by opening too many tabs) so I switched to Chrome which handles lots of tabs easily. I haven't downloaded IE8 though I'm sure it will be installed on my work computer soon so I can try it out then.

IMO, it's all just personal choice!

To be a bit pedantic that was an old test report on FF 3.1
I use 3.5 and think it's good
I did install Chrome, but have uninstalled it too

The link did say Firefox was the Winner (just)
but there are many tests done, so there may be one out there that states Chrome is a "winner" too ?

If you use any windows platform and like it - then stay with it

Version 3.5.1 is already out, fixes a "critical" security issue.
