Here is tonight's Australian Explorer Question:
Who made the flag that John McDouall Stuart planted on the northern coast, and what was earlier inscribed on the large tree nearby?

Pehaps Ester Knowles?
The names of the men in the party were scored into the tree trunk.

Katherine??? of James Chambers made Stuart a Union Jack with his name embroidered in the centre.

Once again Ed, you take all the prizes.
Sorry Al, you were pretty close.
In 1862 Stuart made it to the coast where he had his initials, JMDS incribed in a tree.
Later he raised the flag on a tall tree, given to him by Miss Chambers (Elizabeth).
He buried a tin with a note next to this tree which to this day has not been found.
If anyone has any pictures of Chambers Bay, east of present day
Darwin put them up here...
Current standings after 5 rounds:

See you next week!!!
