I''d be curious why it needed a new diff in less than 274,000km?

I would be curious about the relacement head.
They normally last the life of the motor from what I have seen.
Im guessing the replaced radiator has something to do with it. :D

Diffs often get forgotten about when it comes to oil changes, not unusal to have them go at that mileage (but they can last longer).

80 series dont usually rust too often, more so with a caring owner

Ask if you can see a cold start, meaning that it hasnt been started since the day before.
If it has good compression and fuel system,it should only have a second or two of greyish smoke .
It should start almost immediately and run smooth.

At this age the Denso fuel pumps begin to die. Ask if any work that has been done.
Pumps and injectors rebuilds can easily hit $2000+ for a 1HZ
Usual sign is they lose power ,when warm at high speed as the pump expands and loses pressure.

It has a timing belt that needs changing at 100000 klm intervals. Its cheap and easy, but it has to be done

The bloke I use to rebuild gearbox's and diffs said he would be out of business if it wasn't for Toyota landcruiser. He also said he hardly ever touched Nissan patrol diffs.

I think the point is that a new head and new diffs mean the vehicle was ill-maintained and thrashed off road... I would personally steer clear of this one, seek out another :)

And the new head (though maybe the new radiator explains that one)!

Do you have a link to the sale? Is the service history/books available for you to look at? That is always a good place to start :)

Do you know what other maintenance work has been done to it (injectors & pump, wheel bearings, etc) and when?
