We met up with a guy on the
Oodnadatta Track who was cycling across 10 deserts- including Great Vic., Simpson, CSR and others- on his 7500km trek.
Check out adventuruss.com
Even has SPOT to locate his trip.
The bike was custom made in the US for a 'human' version of the Iditarod sled race !!
Worth a look and a read for those interested.

Hi Signman
Thanks for bringing this great challenge to our attention. I am home for lunch, but it is going to take some time to read all 15 pages of the report. All I can say is what an experience, one that will last for the rest of his life. I have bookmarked the page and will finish reading it tonight. He is like me,can't get enough of the true remote Aussie Deserts.
Cheers
Stephen

We saw him a couple of days ago on the
Walkers Crossing track.
There was a massive dust storm but he was still riding.
One tough b@stard.

Russ was on ABC radio the other morning- he had a good chat about his experiences riding in the sand and his motivations for doing the trip. He said they have raised about $10,000 so far and would like to raise more- if you have some spare pennies there is a link to donate to the RFDS on his website.
