Hi all,

I was meant to be going 4wding to Mt Skene next weekend, but just came across the following implying it's now been closed!

Anyone know anything more about this?

Gidday

I use to take the kelpies up there in the late70's during the snow season. Up on the top, there was an open area on the left hand side.

One of the dogs (kip) use to take great delight plopping his feet on the back of the cross country wood and sending me face first into the snow. Good for a face lick he reckoned.

Over time it became busier and I got sick of pulling people out of the snow and gave it up in the end.

We then went on to find something a bit more remote and quiet in the bush above Woods Points, but that become overrun within a couple of years.

Seems to me everything is becoming closed without rime or reason.

Regards

Kim

Don't panic, although officially closed for the moment the fat lady hasn't sung just yet. Appropiate pressure is being applied as we speak. I'm confident that a reversal will come into effect by next season. Feel free to ring the Mansfield Shire & let them know you wont be coming up to stay this winter.

Hi Craig

Good advice - we have had more sucess than imagined causing dollars to be moved away from Benalla following the offical damage done to Mt Seperation , and forgetting the talk, this weekend we had the Mansfield area Snow or Gippsland options and are heading for Gippsland and booking somewhere to stay so we are moving the groups actual dollars away from the anti-tourist areas.

Jamieson police are also worth the call I think , but don't know where the real influence is.

I think when business's like the Courthouse Hotel in Jamieson (which are nearly booked solid over winter weekends) find out very few will be staying if a gate is installed, there will be considerable pressure applied by their own rate payers. If 4x4 Vic don't get the answers they need I suspect the councilers could have alot of trouble parking anywhere near the chambers for the next Shire meeting ;-)
Cheers Craig.............
