Good to hear, Steve.
You haven't reported any problems, so I take it that all is
well.
Not far now mate, drive safely, have a ball.
Cheers, Dave

Dave,
It seems funny to say "it's not far now mate" most people have the same perception and that is still with a thousand k's to go. We do have a warped sense of distance here in Oz hey?
Have fun and travel safe Steve.
Regards, Trevor.

Hi Trevor, I guess you got me there!
Obviously I haven't done the Cape trip, and didn't realize how far he had to go!
I guess it is 'not far to go now' if you look at it in terms of the time Steve has spent in preparation, getting the van, getting it all sorted out etc, but yes, too true, still a lot of k's to go.
Thanks for reminding me of the size of this great country of ours.
Cheers, Dave

Dave even those that have done the cape talk the same way, when they get to
Cairns it is, "not far to go now mate". More our perception of distance here in Oz or how far one has travelled to get to
Cairns and the relative "short" distance left to the top in comparison to this.
Cheers, Trevor.

Steve,
Currently in
Weipa and heading north.
Only drama has been a blowout on one of the other vehicles.
Had to get 17" tyre shipped to
Cooktown.
Roads are in excellent condition so far.
May see you on the way back.

Just completed the cape, now at
Wonga Beach.
Spent a fortnight travelling the cape. The road gets rough between Capt Billies and the
Twin falls turnoff. Then it is very corrugated from the ferry to
the tip. If you are not doing the OTL just do the 6km track from
Punsand Bay to
the tip. It is so similar!!!
Be prepared for very ordinary
camping grounds and deisel $1-80 lt.

Hi Steve,
We are at
Weipa - arrived last Tuesday. The road generally is very good - some corrugated sections but otherwise fine and we're pulling a 22'standard caravan.
Lovely spot, been boating but no fish yet. Saw 2 big crocs at Roberts
Creek!
Saw a Mitsubishi Triton ute come in from the OTT with it's back broken - you might see it liming home on your way up.
Say hi when you get here!
Cheers
Di and Bill
