Been a while, have been trying to do this trip again, but they are still removing power poles - Shame was going tomorrow - but alas now the end of Augus they say - date keeps moving back.
Dont hold your breath that it will be open this year. Cheers Tony

You can still come in from the Northern end (Wugal Wugal village) and drive down as far as China
Camp. I would estimate that distance is about 1/3 the
CREB track. I guess a little bit of track is better than no track at all

KiwiAngler - Unfortunately no - You have to come in from the North and Backtrack to get out again. The Last 2/3 of the journey is where the best Country is.
